SOS sachets

Description
A food for special medical purposes.
S.O.S is an age specific range of pre-measured neutral-tasting carbohydrate powder drink mixes.

Indications
S.O.S is for use as an emergency regimen in the dietary management of inborn errors of metabolism.

  • S.O.S 10 is suitable from birth
  • S.O.S 15 is recommended from 1 to 2 years of age.
  • S.O.S 20 is recommended from 2 to 10 years of age.
  • S.O.S 25 is recommended from 10 years of age.

Dosage and Administration
To be determined by the clinician or dietitian and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient.

S.O.S is available in four sachet sizes:

  • S.O.S 10 (21g sachets) which, when reconstituted to a final volume of 200ml, yields a 10% carbohydrate solution.
  • S.O.S 15 (31g sachets) which, when reconstituted to a final volume of 200ml, yields a 15% carbohydrate solution.
  • S.O.S 20 (42g sachets) which, when reconstituted to a final volume of 200ml, yields a 20% carbohydrate solution.
  • S.O.S 25 (52g sachets) which, when reconstituted to a final volume of 200ml, yields a 25% carbohydrate solution.

Preparation guidelines
All sachet sizes of S.O.S are designed to be reconstituted with water to yield a final volume of 200ml. Once prepared the feed should be used immediately or stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hours.

Must only be consumed by people with proven inborn errors of metabolism under
strict medical supervision.
Not for use as a sole source of nutrition.
For enteral use only.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place.
Sachets are intended for single use and should be used once opened.
